What are Veneers?

You’ll encounter two primary types of veneers: porcelain and composite veneers. Composite resin veneers are more affordable and easier to apply than porcelain veneers; however, porcelain veneers last longer and have a more natural appearance.

At Ageless Smiles Dental Care, we offer both porcelain and composite resin veneers, tailored to meet your unique aesthetic desires and functional needs. Your dentist will discuss these options with you to assist you in making an informed decision.

Porcelain veneers are custom-made, tooth-coloured, ultra-thin overlays (shells) designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to enhance their appearance. Even though they’re very thin, these veneers are incredibly durable – with the proper care, porcelain veneers can last for 15 years, sometimes longer.

Porcelain veneers take approximately 2 weeks to prepare. During your first visit, your dentist will prepare your teeth and take a high definition digital impression. This will be used to create your permanent veneers. Temporary veneers will be fitted to protect your prepared teeth whilst waiting for your permanent veneers to be fabricated. At your next visit, your temporary veneers will be removed, the teeth will be cleaned, and your permanent porcelain veneers will be placed.

Composite Resin VENEERS PERTH

Composite resin veneers, also called cosmetic bonding, comprise a fast and simple treatment that only requires one visit to finish. Composite veneers could be a good choice if your teeth have minimal flaws such as small chips, fractures, gaps, or discolourations.

Tooth-coloured composite resin is skilfully placed onto your tooth’s surface in stages. It is moulded and then hardened with a specialised fibre optic light. Finally, for a dazzling smile, the resin is polished to a glossy finish to match your natural teeth. That’s it!

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Veneers enhance the overall appearance of your smile, thanks to the porcelain and composite material that mimics the natural look of teeth. Veneers also have the following advantages:

Whitening and/or Aligning Teeth

Veneers effectively whiten teeth, disguise stubborn stains, and enhance your smile’s overall appearance with a natural and radiant finish.

Closing Up Spaces

Veneers are customised to seamlessly close spaces between teeth. This creates a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing smile and makes maintaining dental hygiene easier.

Repairing Chipped or Damaged Teeth

Veneers act as a cosmetic remedy, concealing chips and helping to prevent future damage. They will also restore your tooth’s original shape for a flawless and confident smile.

Covering Worn Tooth Enamel

Veneers provide a protective cover for worn tooth enamel. This prevents further damage and increases the longevity of your teeth.

Are Veneers Right for Me? A Guide for Dental Veneers in Perth

Considering dental veneers but unsure if they’re the right fit for you? Let’s address some key questions to help you determine if veneers are the optimal solution for your dental needs.

1. Have Your Teeth Already Been Restored?

If your teeth have had restorative treatments before, crowning might be the preferred treatment. This is especially true if the foundation or structure of your teeth has been compromised.

2. Are the Teeth Significantly Misaligned?

If your teeth are misaligned or too far out of position for a viable prosthetic solution, orthodontics may be the appropriate path to consider.

3. Do You Have Healthy Teeth?

If your teeth are healthy, with a solid foundation, and don’t have any cracks or deeper problems, our very thin porcelain veneers would be an ideal treatment option.

Whether opting for ultra-thin porcelain veneers or the more time-efficient composite resin veneers, both options present minimally invasive techniques to enhance your smile.

Your dentist will give you personalised advice for the best solution based on your unique situation.

Frequently asked questions

Does insurance cover veneers?

Yes, insurance may sometimes partially cover the cost of veneers. Typically, dental insurance tends to classify veneers as elective cosmetic procedures rather than essential treatments. You should always check with your insurance provider to understand the specifics of your coverage and explore potential financing options if needed.

Why do I need dental veneers?

Dental veneers offer comprehensive enhancement to both the aesthetics and functionality of your smile. They provide a minimally invasive way to achieve a bright and confident smile. They are also a versatile solution for addressing various dental imperfections, whether you’re dealing with discolouration, chipped teeth, or misalignment.

How are veneers applied?

The application of veneers is a detailed, complex process. First, a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth to accommodate the veneer. Your custom-made veneer is then bonded to the tooth’s surface, creating a secure and natural-looking fit. This process, while involving some enamel removal, is minimally invasive, and the result is a transformed and aesthetically pleasing smile.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers can last between 10 and 15 years or longer with proper care, although their lifespan does vary. Regular dental examinations and maintenance will extend the longevity of your veneers.

Can veneers stain or discolour over time?

While veneers are resistant to staining, over time, they may develop slight discolouration. This can be influenced by factors such as diet and oral hygiene habits. Professional teeth cleaning and avoiding certain staining food and drinks can help maintain your veneers’ appearance.
