Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
As we age, fine lines, wrinkles and reduced face volume begins to occur. The repetitive use of our facial muscles along with the loss of collagen and elastin in the skin contributes to the formation of creases, lines and wrinkles.
Dynamic facial expression lines occur when we squint, frown, smile and laugh. When we are young our skin will return to its smooth appearance after each expression but as we become older, our skin doesn’t bounce back in the same way and our expression lines slowly become more permanent.
Administering anti-wrinkle injections into the underlying facial muscles reduces the muscle’s ability to contract, thereby reducing the formation of dynamic expression lines and eventually smoothing out existing wrinkles as well as preventing the development of new lines.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Procedure
Prior to receiving anti-wrinkle injection treatments, our dento-facial qualified dentist will assess your skin’s condition and the movement of your facial muscles. Your desired outcomes, expectations, side effects and after care will also be discussed with you.
Having both dental and dento-facial aesthetics qualifications, our dentist has a thorough understanding of the facial anatomy and structures. Knowing exactly where all the nerves, blood vessels and muscles are in the face is crucial when performing injectable treatments.
Areas of the face to be treated will be cleansed and marked. Using a very fine needle, the required dosage of anti-wrinkle muscle relaxant will be administered into the skin. A slight discomfort or sting may be experienced for a few seconds. Temporary redness and/or bruising may follow. This is normal and expected to disappear within a few hours.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Results
Anti-wrinkle treatment results start to appear within a few days and will be fully developed by two weeks. The treated areas are reviewed at a subsequent appointment and if the desired result isn’t achieved, a top up treatment may be recommended.
Depending on the individual, anti-wrinkle treatment results may last between 3 – 5 months. Over time, the effect of the treatment will begin to fade as the underlying facial muscles begin to regain their movement functionality. Although softer than before treatment, lines and wrinkles will begin to reappear so further treatments would be required to maintain results.
